Five Questions for Friday--You Finally Get a New Post

Oh geesh, it's been nearly a week since I posted. Dang. Sorry. I need to post but my mind is gone so luckily My Little Life has provided with Five Question Friday. So to ease my mind and for your reading enjoyment, here's today's questions. Go over to My Little Life and see some more.

1. If you had $1000 to donate to a charity, which would you choose? Hmmm, that's a toughie. I can say that whatever it would be would be a local charity with no national ties (too much overhead and not as much going to the organization...trust me, I've worked for 2 non-profits, I know how these things work). And while I love the arts more 'n my luggage, the arts are the "politically correct" and least offensive place for the high profile local wealthies to give their money (they won't have to hang with homeless or special needs people/children). So the arts are pretty well taken care of. I would probably give it to Iron Gate, the homeless kitchen in the basement of Trinity Episcopal Church. I've seen it in action, I've walked through the homeless people waiting on the steps of the church many, many Sundays on my way to service. Let me tell you $1000 would make a lot of peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. And let me also tell you, there are many, many children who are guests at Iron Gate. A hungry homeless child breaks my heart--it's not their fault.

2. Snow days: Do you welcome them happily or are they a pain in the butt? Welcome them! I love any opportunity I have to have all three of my kiddos at home with me! I'm a terrible mom who won't go out in the snow because I'm a wuss when it comes to cold, but I love snow days snuggled up with my kids! And I'm not afraid to drive in snow, either. Sledding and snowman building are left to WM, though.

3. What talent do you wish you had and why? I wish I could sew. I love unique and different clothing for myself and my kids and it's hard to find things that don't look like what everyone else has. So I wish I could sew my own creations. I can visualize outfits and styles, I just wish I could create them. I also wish I could knit.

4. Are you a news, politics or celebrity gossip junkie? Um, yes (well, not politics...can't stand politics)! I have a bachelor's degree in broadcast journalism/mass communications. I spent every day of my college career reading a newspaper or watching news reports (and often creating those reports/news articles). I love the news! I'm one of the few who read the newspaper everyday, and watch the news casts every night (and usually at noon, 5 and 6pm) And I'm not a celebrity gossip junkie per se, I just like to see how absurdly most of them are acting and what the ones that I like are wearing.

5. What is your favorite "cocktail" (are you a beer person, a kiddie cocktail junkie, or perhaps a "cosmo" type? Anything flies...doesn't hafta be alcoholic). Alcoholic--pina colada. Non alcoholic--Starbucks decaf mocha or water (I'm serious). Thankyouverymuch.

There you have it.

Name That Tune!
Ok--the last song was Fire Woman by The Cult. Seriously, none of you ever heard of that?

Here's the score:
Impulsive=2
Korinne=2
JennyKate77=1

Since NTT doesn't seem to be that popular, I'm thinking we'll call it good. We'll say Korinne is the January winner (because Impulsive said she doesn't think it's fair to win two months in a row). So unless you all are REALLY wanting me to continue with NTT (and you gotta let me know if you do) then, I think this'll be it.

Five ? Friday-Christmas Edition

I'm going to do another Five Question Friday. Because my brain is on overdrive with everything going on and surely I can type up some answers that someone else provides. Also because something screwy is going on with the WiFi at our house which makes my laptop somewhat non-functional. So I'm working on our big ol desktop computer that is a PC (my laptop is a Mac), I haven't used a PC in awhile so I'm having to remember how to do stuff. Like right click. Oh Mac--how you've made my life so easy.

Anyhoo, the questions are provided by My Little Life. Go there to see more.

Here are the questions for this week.

1. What's on the top of your Christmas wish list and why? I want a boob lift. Why? Because I had 3 kids within 5 years and breastfed all of them for at least a year and I want my pre-baby 32 D's back. Ok, TMI? (sorry mom and Marian if you're reading this). Ok, seriously, what do I want? I really don't have a huge list. I'd like a Nikon D7000 or an iPad, but I'd be totally okay without those since I already have a nice camera and Macbook. OH--I know! World peace, that's what I want. Or shoes, boots or handbags...can never have too much of that.

2. What is your favorite Christmas gift from the past? I remember when I was around 8 or 9 I had a totally pink Barbie Christmas. I still remember how much I loved all that Barbie stuff. In my recent past...probably my Macbook that WM got me last year.

3. If you had to do life over, what would you want to be when you grow up? I love being a wife and mom...that's what I'd want again. In the professional sense, I think I'd still choose what I majored in and had a career in until I quit to stay home. Communications. I loved my job doing PR/advertising/marketing/media relations...a.k.a. community relations. I loved getting out in the community and being in the thick of everything and staying on top of current trends. But if I had to choose something different, I choose to be an airline pilot. Seriously, I love to fly (I get it from my dad--who is a retired...pilot. Not kidding).

4. When do you put up your Christmas tree? We cover this earlier this week, so I'll make it quick. Mid-December. We do real trees so they really shouldn't be up for too long or they dry out and become a fire hazard. (Though I'm going to try to talk WM into getting ours this weekend).

5. What is your favorite holiday? I do love me some Christmas, but my favorite holiday is Easter.

There you go. Do you like that fancy smancy (cheesy) red/green I did there? Yeah--I'm juvenile, but I spend my days with kids 7 and under, so that explains a lot.

Five Questions for Friday--Because my Brain Won't Work

I've been messing with this blog long enough. I need a break. Yes, there are things that still need tweaking and some copy that needs a little editing, but seriously, I just can't take it any more. Maybe I'll tackle the small things later this weekend or next week. But for now you get a real post. Well, it's not real, I mean all I'm doing is answering questions--how much brain power does that take. But like I mention about 3 sentences ago, my brain has no power left, so I'm going to do my first Five Question Friday. If you want to see some more, head on over to My Little Life and check out some others.

So here are the Q's and A's for this week:

1. What is the most physically painful thing that has ever happened to you? You'd think after birthing 3 BIG babies that I'd say childbirth, but actually, no, I found childbirth to be a very quick and easy adventure (even my Ob/Gyn and the nurses said my births are "textbook" and "unbelievable"--awww, shucks, thanks)! So my answer is having migraines. Have you ever had one of those? No? Be glad. There's no words to describe it.

2. How much sleep do you get a night? Boy is that a loaded question. The easy answer is somewhere between 4-6. I'm in bed for approximately 10 hours per night, but only asleep for 4-6 of them. I have some type of sleep problem. A lot has to do with the kids and a lot has to do with some type of insomnia I have going on lately. But it's all good...I haven't had a decent night's sleep since somewhere around Spring 2003, so I'm used to it.

3. How long did you believe in Santa Claus? How did you "find out." I had to reword the question because I've got a 7 year old who still believes and often reads my blogs while I'm going over them. But the general rule is "if you don't believe, you don't receive." So I still believe...maybe not in Santa, but the magic of Christmas. I actually don't remember finding out and how old I was. I have a brother 10 years younger than me, so Santa was coming to our house well into my teenage years.

4. What was the last movie you saw in the theatre? Katie and I saw The Princess and the Frog last Christmas. I think that was the last one. If not, any movie I've seen since certainly didn't make an impression.

5. What do you wear to bed? Nothing. HA! Just kidding!! JUST KIDDING!!!!!!! Actually I'm covered very well. I wear the same jammies year round. Usually flannel pants and a long sleeved t-shirt or jammie top (sometimes short sleeved in the hottest part of summer). I'm cold all the time, so I wear warm clothes to bed.
