McLinky Monday--Christmas Decor

McLinky over at McRHOKy today is all about Christmas decor and when we put it up at our house.

So when do we put up our Christmas decorations?

I believe that each holiday should be celebrated individually and not combined with other holidays that are near in date. So Christmas decor does not even cross my mind until after Thanksgiving. It even goes further than that, at our house Christmas doesn't show up at our house until December 1st. We do begin celebrating the Advent season even if the first day of Advent falls before Dec. 1st (like this year), but that doesn't mean we're breaking our Christmas decorations yet.

Realistically, though, I don't get much out until mid-December. We always get a real Christmas tree and if you put that bugger up to early it dries out and becomes a fire hazard no matter how much you water it. So the tree usually goes up around Dec. 15th-ish. Our outside lights go up whenever WM feels like it. That's his territory (though I have veto rights if I don't like how it's looking). Usually he has them up around the 2nd weekend of December or somewhere around there.

So, there you have it. Not real exciting, I know, but that's how our Christmas decorating rolls.

Head over to the RHOK to read about others.

What Would You Rather Do Wednesday?--Donut Version

The coming days are all about food. Food, food and more food. So I thought it might be appropriate to ask a food related question for What Would You Rather Do? Wednesday. But it's not what you think it's about...not Thanksgiving food. So here it is....

If you go to the donut shop and could only order one thing, which of these two things would you choose??

A donut

or

A sausage roll

Both are so scrumptious in their oh-so-fattening way.

But which would you choose? Leave me your answer down there in the comments section! Please.

And as for my answer from last week?? I'd take the short line with the rude, disrespectful cashier. Because a). usually I have my kids and getting out of the store quickly is of essence and b). I find those kinds of cashiers a challenge...betcha I can turn that attitude around. I kill them with kindness and politeness to the point even they realize they are being a jerk butt. Nine times out of 10 when I pour on my southern charm, they end up smiling back at me and wishing me a nice day. It's kind of a fun game...try it next time you get one of "those" types of cashiers.

Royal Wedding!!!!

Ok, I've swallowed my pride and I'm going to go ahead and nerd-out on you and reveal a secret...

I AM SO FREAKIN' EXCITED ABOUT THE ROYAL WEDDING!!!!!!

I know that's so nerdy. But come on, it's a Royal Wedding and that only happens every 20+ years. I remember the summer of 1981 when Charles and Diana got married. My family was here in Tulsa visiting my grandma for the week and my sister, grandma and I got up at 4:00 a.m. to watch it.

The. Whole. Thing.

Seriously, we didn't move from the TV all day. Then we played Royal Wedding for years. We bought the Royal Wedding books, I even have a Royal Wedding Wedgwood plate with profiles of Charles and Diana.

My friends The Fabulous Joy McGill, Angelina and I are already planning a watch party, but I don't think I'll be able to attend because I bet a get an invite. hee hee. But seriously...this will be a watch party like no other. When those two gals are involved in party planning nothing but fabulousness comes out of it. I'll keep you updated on that!

I don't really know much about Kate Middleton, but she seems alright to me. And let me tell you this...I lu...u...u...v her style. She is always so put together, yet so real looking. Love her clothes!

Cute...love that sweater.
Love this look.
I really think this is one of my favs.
Even her spiffy hats those Brits are so found of are fab.
Pretty, pretty, pretty.
This coat....I die!
This is super fun! Love it!
I think this one is really my fav.
Those boots...I'm SO into flat boots...she nailed it here.
So there you have it...I love her style. I can't wait to see what she brings to the fashion table in the years to come.

Well...this has been a long post and I need to start my feather embellished hat shopping. So stay tuned for more updates.

McLinky Monday--Black Friday

Well...today I've decided to McLink-it up. McLinky, McLinkin Park, McLinkin Logs, McLinkin Nebraska. (I don't know...sometime I get a little distracted).

The RHOK

Today they are asking what my Black Friday routine is. This is SO simple for me! I don't have to give it one bit of thought. Here's what I do on Black Friday.

Did you get that?

There it is again. Nothing.

I do nothing, nothing, and a whole bunch of nothing on BF. As a general rule I don't really like shopping that much. Let me rephrase that...I don't like getting in my car and going shopping and looking at stores. I'm all about online shopping--so many more options.

So BF is nothing more to me than another day to eat leftovers and pie and anything else I can get my grubby paws on. And then about 4:00 p.m. I feel guilty and go out for a run, which makes me feel like poo because I've eaten so much, so I just run back home and eat some more.

Honestly, stores offer so many good discounts and sales throughout the holiday season, that even the money saving aspect doesn't really apply anymore.

So, this Friday I will be watching some type of football game while eating something and contemplating whether or not I should nap.

But good luck to all of you who get out on Friday--may the force be with you!

Christmas Cards

It's that time of year. When all the my-life-is-so-perfect mommies have their family photos scheduled, the coordinating outfits purchased and the perfectly touched up foiled highlights done. They are prepared for...Christmas cards. But me. Well, if you know me...today is the first day I've really started thinking about it. Last year I think I sent out Happy New Year cards, the year before I think it Valentine's cards, you see the pattern here...I just can't get it together for Christmas cards. I think it's that perfect photo or what I have in mind just doesn't come to fruition.

This year, because I know that perfect photo will never happen, I think these are the photos I'll use. You know I'm all about keepin' it real!

There is no joy to MY world!
Nothing says Merry Christmas like an automatic weapon.
I'm going to whack the merry into your Christmas!

Hail Mary

So yesterday I decided that maybe it was time to take down all the Halloween decorations. Not that I had that many. I'm not a big "holiday decorator" when it comes to my home. I put up a few simple touches here and there, but that's about it.

A couple weeks before Halloween my dad and step mom sent the kids a great package...cookies and a darling pumpkin cookie jar! Needless to say, we gobbled up those cookies at record pace, so the poor pumpkin was empty bellied.

Fast forward a couple weeks...I had dumped a bunch of Snickers into Mr. Empty Belly Pumpkin and about every 7.295 seconds I would go visit him and grab one (really, where did these extra 5 pounds come from?). Well, yesterday when I went to go put Empty Belly away I opened him up to grab another Snickers and put them elsewhere, look what I found...

I nearly split my already-to-tight-jeans!!!

I truly believe in God whispers.

I'm not sure if that is a God whisper or a great big smack upside the head. I'm pretty sure I heard God say, "My Child...quit eating the Snickers or you're going to weigh 500 lbs by Christmas."

Of course it could just be a really funny joke by my 7-year-old (it was her Hail Mary card).

Whatever it was...right then and there I quit the Snickers cold turkey.

The Saga Continues

You've been reading about the dinosaur invasion of our lives for some time. Well, today I was cleaning up Katie's dollhouse stuff look what I found...

...the dinosaur saga continues.

Here they are...coming out of every window.

Except for this clown town, he was going in while everyone else was coming out. He must not have been told that the cops were on the way.

Oh look! Not only dinosaurs--but 'gators, too!

OH NO! I think we've had a casualty!
A stray arm under the table can't be a good sign when there are rogue dinosaurs and gators in the neighborhood. Something needs to be done!

I'm just not sure how we're going to get rid of these buggers!

What Would You Rather Do Wednesday?--The Return

So, I decided to bring back What Would You Rather Do? Wednesday. I know you've been missing it--I KNOW!

If you're kind new to reading the blog, here's how it works...I give you scenarios/questions and you leave your choice and explanation in a comment. I love seeing how different everyone is, or in some cases how similar. Sometimes they are life questions and sometimes they are bizarro questions. Get it? It's just silliness.

So let's get with it...here's this week's question...

What Would You Rather Do?

Spend 20 minutes waiting in line at a store to check out and have the cashier be super nice and pleasant.

or

Spend no time waiting in line and have the cashier be rude, disrespectful and mean.

What would you rather? Let me know in the comments...

Happy Wednesday!!

Five Questions for Friday--Because my Brain Won't Work

I've been messing with this blog long enough. I need a break. Yes, there are things that still need tweaking and some copy that needs a little editing, but seriously, I just can't take it any more. Maybe I'll tackle the small things later this weekend or next week. But for now you get a real post. Well, it's not real, I mean all I'm doing is answering questions--how much brain power does that take. But like I mention about 3 sentences ago, my brain has no power left, so I'm going to do my first Five Question Friday. If you want to see some more, head on over to My Little Life and check out some others.

So here are the Q's and A's for this week:

1. What is the most physically painful thing that has ever happened to you? You'd think after birthing 3 BIG babies that I'd say childbirth, but actually, no, I found childbirth to be a very quick and easy adventure (even my Ob/Gyn and the nurses said my births are "textbook" and "unbelievable"--awww, shucks, thanks)! So my answer is having migraines. Have you ever had one of those? No? Be glad. There's no words to describe it.

2. How much sleep do you get a night? Boy is that a loaded question. The easy answer is somewhere between 4-6. I'm in bed for approximately 10 hours per night, but only asleep for 4-6 of them. I have some type of sleep problem. A lot has to do with the kids and a lot has to do with some type of insomnia I have going on lately. But it's all good...I haven't had a decent night's sleep since somewhere around Spring 2003, so I'm used to it.

3. How long did you believe in Santa Claus? How did you "find out." I had to reword the question because I've got a 7 year old who still believes and often reads my blogs while I'm going over them. But the general rule is "if you don't believe, you don't receive." So I still believe...maybe not in Santa, but the magic of Christmas. I actually don't remember finding out and how old I was. I have a brother 10 years younger than me, so Santa was coming to our house well into my teenage years.

4. What was the last movie you saw in the theatre? Katie and I saw The Princess and the Frog last Christmas. I think that was the last one. If not, any movie I've seen since certainly didn't make an impression.

5. What do you wear to bed? Nothing. HA! Just kidding!! JUST KIDDING!!!!!!! Actually I'm covered very well. I wear the same jammies year round. Usually flannel pants and a long sleeved t-shirt or jammie top (sometimes short sleeved in the hottest part of summer). I'm cold all the time, so I wear warm clothes to bed.

Keep on Keepin' On

I know, friends...my blog looks all wonky and things are crazy and not centered, weird fonts, etc. I know.

But, the good news is I'm getting close...very close, the better news is I'm having lunch with a friend, so you're just going to have to deal with it for a while longer. I'm going to try to have it all fixed up and ready by this afternoon.

Gracias!

Stand By!

Due to technical difficulties this blog is...

UNDER CONSTRUCTION!

Hopefully it will be back up and running soon.

Or this may be a sign from God that it's time to quit blogging (which I have been seriously toying with recently).

Wordless Wednesday--She Shoots, She SCORES!

My, my, my...it's been a week already. How time flies. When you're having fun (or when you're so busy that time just gets away from you).

Anyhoo...Wordless Wednesday for you again this week. Sorry the photo is so cruddy, taking photos in a gym with an iPhone while chasing two other kiddos does not lead to quality photos. But here's Katie at her first basketball practice.

You seriously don't know how momentous this is.
Wish us luck.

And sorry there's so many words...guess it's not really Wordless Wednesday.
