So when do we put up our Christmas decorations?
I believe that each holiday should be celebrated individually and not combined with other holidays that are near in date. So Christmas decor does not even cross my mind until after Thanksgiving. It even goes further than that, at our house Christmas doesn't show up at our house until December 1st. We do begin celebrating the Advent season even if the first day of Advent falls before Dec. 1st (like this year), but that doesn't mean we're breaking our Christmas decorations yet.
Realistically, though, I don't get much out until mid-December. We always get a real Christmas tree and if you put that bugger up to early it dries out and becomes a fire hazard no matter how much you water it. So the tree usually goes up around Dec. 15th-ish. Our outside lights go up whenever WM feels like it. That's his territory (though I have veto rights if I don't like how it's looking). Usually he has them up around the 2nd weekend of December or somewhere around there.
So, there you have it. Not real exciting, I know, but that's how our Christmas decorating rolls.
Head over to the RHOK to read about others.

You have a beautiful blog. I agree, each holiday should be celebrated individually. Happy decorating!
I couldn't agree more! I also feel like each holiday should have its own time. I usually start decorating the weekend after Thanksgiving. I'm about half way finished. Hopefully I'll get the rest of mine up before the weekend!
Thanks for linking up! :)

I love your blog! Beautiful kids and I agree that you shouldn't start one holiday until after another has finished!
I have never had my Christmas stuff out before Thanksgiving. I enjoy the fall stuff too much to rush putting it away.
I wish I could get my husband to do lights. Little booger!
I think the lights are Doc's favorite part! We don't put them up high lately, though.
I like your December 1st rule, but I stick with the day or weekend after Thanksgiving because the kids are out of school and everyone is home.
Well, this should make you feel better. I've been married for 8 years and this is the FIRST time I've ever put up a Christmas tree. I finally quit making excuses and did it for my little Emma Kate. She needs her pic taken in front of the tree, right? A real Christmas tree would be nice. I had to do some MAJOR fluffing since my tree was living in an unopened box in the attic for the last 6 years. Yes, I know. I suck.
I appreciated your comments from my negative nancy post. I'm taking your advice (minus the coffee comment b/c it makes me gag).
Happy Wednesday!
Oh AND we need to get you set up on email. I love to email back after peeps leave comments but yours isn't set up. Holla if you want me to tell you how. You may have your reasons for not having it set up.
I'll still be friends with you either way because you're cool.
